Reminiscence of Florence

The latest Dan Brown creation is not something to sneeze at. Some said the ending suck. I can't comment if this book's better or The Last Symbol better because it has been so long since I read it. I read The Last Symbol during my Taiwan trip with family 3-4 years ago. Which reminds me... I haven't blog much about my Taiwan trip. Again Nite is right in saying you should blog while the memory is fresh!

On the other hand I think the ending to this book appeals to the T side of me. Very rational and entirely logical. Maybe a bit too fairy tale in the modern world. However what truly appeals to me is the setting of the entire novel - Florence. When we decided to go Europe, my only term is we must go to the birthplace of renaissance. I can imagined Professor Langdon running through the streets of Florence, destroys popular landmarks and solves mysteries in historical churches.

As I read through this book I wished my adventure is as exciting as his. I remember we reached Florence on Labour Day, nothing was opened except the Church. We were even caught in a hailstorm and we hide under one of those door arches which didn't really provide enough shelter. We queued 3 hours to into the Ufizi only to realize one of the most popular pictures were on loan somewhere else. Still it was peaceful to stroll around the old city.

I also had wine pasta there, at a place highly recommended by some magazine Rain read. That time I was amazed and felt it was very exotic. After more than a year living in Koala Land, actually it's pretty common.

I would very much want to go visit Europe again before I die.
